![]() But, like I said, I think it was Cacheman. I'm going to run OHM and the plugin all day today, so I'll know for sure if it causes crashes. I also noticed I'd get CRC errors when allowing Cacheman to manage memory.Īnyway, I ran OHM and the Rainmeter plugin for a couple hours yesterday without problems (save one: Rainmeter crashed once when refeshing a skin I'm building - don't know if this is OHM related). As of version 7.0 of the HWiNFO hardware sensor monitoring tool, the software has changed to require purchasing a yearly 'Pro' license in order to use the Shared Memory feature of the software that allowed it to interact with the HWiNFO plugin for Rainmeter. Windows 7 does a good job of managing memory, as does Cacheman, but if it causes crashes there are problems. All available counters can be viewed using the Performance Monitor application. It is a platform that enables skins to run on the desktop. The Windows Performance Monitor exposes counters, which monitor various kinds of system metrics in different categories, and tracks their usage. Rainmeter is a free, open-source application for Windows PCs. ![]() At this point, I think it was Cacheman causing the BSOD. PluginUsageMonitor retrieves infromation from the Windows Performance Monitor. But in theses cases you will get a notification from the Open Hardware Monitor itself and it will try to exit safely. Use this system monitor Windows skin as an interactive desktop customizer for your PC. There are also some rare cases where the Open Hardware Monitor crashes (well it is more like it doesn't even start). Normal crashs (without blue screen) can happen with any application. Libre Hardware Monitor plugin for Rainmeter Place LibreHardwareMonitorLib.dll and HidSharp.dll in the same folder as rainmeter.exe (C:Program FilesRainmeter) Place LHM. This Plugin allowes Rainmeter measures to access the sensor data of OpenHardwareMonitor / LibreHardwareMonitor. The application is still in Beta status, so use it at your own risk. Without Administrator rights most hardware sensors are not accessible. I am not sure what Cacheman does internally, but for some of the more advanced things like managing cache it could be using a kernel driver as well (which could cause directly blue screens). To install just unpack the zip archive and run OpenHardwareMonitor.exe with Administrator rights. The Open Hardware Monitor uses a kernel driver, so it could cause blue screens by itself in theory (but I don't have evidence of any case where it does). If for example the RAM does not run stable then anything can cause indirectly a blue screen.
